CLUB HISTORY

The club originated after a meeting between the City of Casey and the Berwick Springs Residents and Owners Association (BSROA) in 2004. The people predominantly involved were Jan Mann - President of BSROA, Paul Bulka – Vice President BSROA, Ray Mouw - BSROA, Len Fletcher and Nicole Fletcher - BSJFC .

The club was originally set up as a Sports Club Model, incorporating cricket and football with netball soon to follow. Cricket was the first to commence in October 2006 followed by football for the 2007 season. At the commencement of the season, we operated out of two portable buildings and one oval. The original clubrooms were established 2008 with a small canteen and 2 club rooms. The current extensions were completed in 2012 with thanks to the strong support & drive by Matthew Osbourne (President Berwick Springs Sports Club).

The club was established with a strong vision of a creating a family club atmosphere, a place where all are welcome and inclusivity & participation is paramount. The committee, volunteers, players and families have successfully worked together over the last 16 years to create a positive club culture that emulates this vision. The rapid growth of the club over the past 16 years is testament to the club’s successful and inclusive culture, with BSJFC fast becoming a destination club where positions are highly sought after.

BSJFC launched in 2007 with 2 teams of U9s. The club has enjoyed steady growth each season since, and in 2022 the club fielded 15 teams – that is more than 330 junior football players & 100 volunteers participating each week. Half of our 12 teams engaged in competitive divisions (U11-U17) were successful in achieving top 4 positions in 2022 competing in the Finals Series. We aim to surpass this amazing effort in 2023.

The club has strong connections and relationships with both our Auskick and senior club Berwick Springs Football Netball Club (BSFNC). All three entities work together to provide a positive pathway for players to transition from Auskick to juniors, and finally to seniors.

OUR AIMS ARE:

  • To provide a club that promotes belonging, and supports members to be the best they can on and off the field

  • To provide a positive, inclusive and active social environment for all families

  • To recognise that the role of the club within the community goes beyond simply providing an environment for sporting endeavour, and ensure the club is concerned for the welfare of the player and family community both on and off the field

  • To welcome and include all of our community

  • To support all volunteers who willingly give their time for the benefit of the club

  • To ensure a clear and positive pathway from Auskick to junior football (BSJFC) and ultimately senior football (BSFNC)

  • To develop the club into one of the most progressive and well managed sporting clubs within the City of Casey

  • To ensure prudent financial practices are adopted and enforced to ensure money is wisely allocated and all creditors are paid in a timely manner
